Don’t haul chairs and umbrellas from home. Vendors rent everything on the sand for R$10–20. Posto 9 vendors are friendly and set you up with a prime spot.

Arpoador Rock at sunset is non-negotiable. Bring a canga (beach sarong), grab a coconut water, and join the locals in applauding the sunset. It’s a Rio tradition.
